Today was a historic day for Egypt. Just one day after Egypts army said that they would side with Hosni Mubarak, he in turn decided to step down as president of Egypt. This one action by the president has brought a huge relief to the land because of the constant protesting that has been going on for the past 18 days. Thousands upon thousands of people chanted that they had brought down the regime of Mubarak. Many people were interviewed saying that this was the greatest day of there life and in the history of Egypt and it will never be repeated. Mubaraks powers are going to be passed down to Omar Suleiman but as of right now the country is in the hands of the army until everything in the country goes back to normal. For the time being, the country will rejoice and just be happy for the fact that they are rid of Mubarak.
I think that is article is really and truely historic in our worlds history. The unrest in Egypt has stirred up the entire world and everyone could feel the tension in the air. When it was said that the military was going to back Mubarak, I thought to myself that there is no way that this could end out well. After 30 years the people of Egypt are finally free. They are finally able to start with a new slate and build their country back up. I think that the failure of this government came from the fact that it was an autocracy. Too much power given to one person can only corrupt them and I think that it what happened to Mubarak. Now that he is gone I think that the people of Egypt will learn from this and will place a new form of government, such as democracy, so nothing like this never happens again.
